Mary Ann's Story (the short less complicated version)

Mary Ann, 61, from Fitzgerald, GA was diagnosed October 2o11 with Cryptogenic Cirrhosis (cirrhosis due to unidentified causes) of the liver by the Liver Team @ Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Doctors believe that cryptogenic cirrhosis is due to NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis) caused by a number of health related problems. After several hospitalizations and numerous blood transfusions due to her body eating the blood platelets (that are needed to clot blood) due to end stage liver disease, she was life flighted to the intensive care unit at Emory University on New Year's Eve. On January 8th 2012, Mary Ann was placed in a medically induced coma and was placed on a ventilator because of other organ failures caused by the liver disease. Mary Ann NEEDS a liver transplant. After meeting with the Liver Transplant Team on January 18th, 2012, her family was made aware that they would need a minimum of $30,000.00 in a special account before they will place her on the transplant list. This is to prove she will have the funds to cover post operation medications (anti-rejection medications) that are needed following the transplant. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. She is a loving wife, mother, mother in law, and grandmother. No amount of money is too much to bring her home, and for her to start living a normal life again. Feel free to also keep up with her progress via facebook @ Prayers For Mary Ann Williams Donations can be made on this page, by clicking on the PayPal "Donate" button the right of this blog.
